This can be a real problem. If you’re seeking to sell, there are a few ways to combat the low inventory.
Look to Buy First
In most markets, it’s a mistake to put your home up for sale before you start looking for a new one.
Identify the geographic area where you’re interested in buying. If you don’t see anything while looking on Core Realty, it doesn’t mean you won’t find the right home.
Did you know you can set up your own personal search on our website? You’ll be able to see ALL listings that are publicly listed on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). Besides that, you can subscribe (or opt out) to alerts every time a new property is listed. Scheduling a tour of a home is also no problem! Our Realtors® are able to work not only as seller’s agents, but also buyer’s agents. A buyer’s agent is able to show any property whether or not they are the listing agent.
Think outside the box
Be proactive! Keep in mind there are many people like you who want to make a move but are also nervous. Your real estate agent has the ability to send mailings to the geographic areas where you want to live. The mailings announce they have a buyer ready to buy a home. It’s possible your Realtor® could find a home for you that may not be currently listed for sale.
Protect yourself legally
Your real estate professional can explain the process of adding a clause in the listing contract for the home you are selling. This would be a contingency that will delay the sale of your home until you find a suitable home to buy. The same contingency would be possible to write on a purchase agreement. For example, when you find your dream home and your house is for sale but doesn’t yet have a buyer, your contract can be written with the clause of “contingent upon the sale of . . .”
